Technology Today

So I am trying to get a head start on this week's homework. I find the topic of technology to be very interesting. I think technolgy is great! It helps with so much innovation for how the world functions and the way the world can conduct business in an efficent and effective manner. However, my views with technology that interfere with the unborn human life is where I become skeptical. Although this technology has a strong appeal for most individuals, I find it to be invasive. It would be good to get tested, I do not believe that baby should be aborted if it is unhealthy. I could see the argument of how this could help one prepare for the future. But I don not believe the child should be aborted.
I know, I know this gets to be a personal topic. But this is the main reseason why I am not a firm believer in this type technology. Personally, I would not have this technology administered on my children. Not to find the color of their eyes, not to determine the gender. I believe that each child is a precious gift from God and should be treated as such. These are my personal views and you are free to disagree. Hope you all have a great week!

  1. While I do agree with you that the technology is definately a "hot topic," I think that it would be good to know if your child is going to have a disease that way you can better prepare yourself for that particular disease. I also agree that you shouldn't be able to pick and chose your child, you should just be happy with what you have and whatever child you get, but not all people see it that way.

  2. I agree Becky. This is a personal topic for everyone. I have family members who have gotten children aborted and the emotional effects far outweigh the choice. I would hope that no one would ever have to face this kind of trauma but as someone who hopes to be a mom someday I would not intervene. I would always give my baby a chance to live. You said it well!

  3. I really like how you talked about how great technology can be. I absolutely agree that technology is amazing, but there has to be limitations on how far we can push the envelope. For example, it should not aid in designing our children. I agree with you that it is God's job. We are a world made up of people who are all different (except for identical twins:) What would really happen if we were to start choosing our babies features? Would there be trends like there are in fashion? Like a decade where there were a lot of kids born with blue eyes, then maybe green eyes would be "in" the following decade. Would technology really stop there? What if they began cloning humans? Our diversity that makes us so great could be thrown out the window all thanks to technology.
