This weeks reading is a little confusing fore me... I have had a lot of tests and projects do so my brain is scrambled with information. But from what I understand, Humans could not live on aerobic cellular respiration. One of the main reasons is because it does not use oxygen, it brakes down the nutrients commonly found in animals and plants. But there is no need for me to lecture:) I would assume that humans do not directly need aerobic cellular respiration to function. Conversely, I believe that humans are need an indirect source of this specific respitation to function as God intended.
When I researched about the warm and cold blooded organisms, I found that warm blooded creatures produce more ATP which gives them more energy, and in return affect the body tempature. I thought that this was interesting information, but I am not quite convinced that this is a definite or the only answer to this question. What are your thoughts?

I too found that warm-blooded animals produce more ATP. Yes, you're right, human's do not need aerobic cellular respiration to function all the time, but we do need it when we exercise!
ReplyDeleteOur cells can only live for short bursts of time without oxygen...in that time, we switch to anerobic fermentation and produce less ATP. Remember that our brains can only withstand about 4 minutes without oxygen or it dies!
ReplyDeleteThat is crazy that we can only withstand 4 minutes without oxygen but it makes total sense. When you cut off that connection, your brain has nothing to work with. This is so interesting to me because I honestly didn't know why some were cold blooded and some were warm blooded. This was a good section...challenging, but good.
ReplyDeleteYeah, we're just a little too big to last on just an eighteenth of the energy we normally have.
